THE LAZY EYES FUZZ JAM

Judging from the title of their freshly announced debut album, Songbook, and its addictive lead track 'Fuzz Jam', Australia's The Lazy Eyes are straight-up in their approach when it comes to music. Sporting an unpretentious attitude, the promising quartet let their music speak for itself and have already managed to bag an enviable support slot with The Strokes. Spawned from a desire to incorporate a new instrument into their live setup, namely a Hohner Pianet T, the band said: "we really wanted a harder track to play on it". It would appear they have succeeded as the ominous groove of 'Fuzz Jam' accommodates crystallised layers of guitars, psychedelic vocal work and shortly after a danceable drum beat. Eventually introducing the inevitable fuzz factor, dual guitars do battle, complementing and contrasting with each other in the the most satisfying manner. Marking a noticeable step-up from some of their earlier works, we'll be sure to keep a look out for more from The Lazy Eyes (no pun intended). -Holly Mullineaux
